Korean Scientists Develop Female Android

Korean scientists have developed the world's first (Japanese speaking?) female android, the EveR-1, which stands 1.6m tall and weighs approx. 110 pounds. It's capable of understanding 400 words, speaking, and making facial expressions via fifteen motors embedded into her silicon face. Video clip after the jump.
For now, EveR-1 can be employed as a guide robot at museums and department stores or as an educational model to read books to children,'' Baeg said. But we are looking further ahead _ we are working on upgrading the android with the aim of making it move its legs by the end of this year. It will be able to sit down and stand up by then,'' he expects.

Maybe the video isn`t of this new Korean robot, because she is speaking Japanese most def and even the name is Japanese. and the writing is also Japanese. Not that it is important.

shes speaking japanese. in the beginning shes saying "konichiwa" meaning good evening, she says a lot of japanese phrases. not to mention the first android from kokoro was made from japanese people.

"konichiwa" means hello, good evening is "konbawa" but you're right she speaks japanese.

you know when LCD screen or digital camera was started been sold alot after 2000 but the techonology was developed way earlier. it just was huge and under development. Which means now they made this its gona develop over time and about 10 year later or something they gonna have nature looking naturely moving robots. So even this looks like total shit, but its new step to future robots.

The video is actually not of eveR-1, but of Actroid. Actroid is a Japanese made robot, which explains why she speaks Japanese! I'm sort of surprised I'm the only one who noticed this.
