Lapcat, a new generation of hypersonic jets, will be able to transport passengers from London to Sydney in under 5-hours, at speeds in excess of Mach 5 at an altitude of 92,000-feet. Traveling at these speeds may sound uncomfortable, but you’ll be happy to know that the cabin would be pressurized, so up to 300 passengers can enjoy the same conditions as those found on a current jet. However, there will be no windows, due to the increased external pressures. According to Alan Bond, “If you wanted to go to Australia, in four hours or so, then that would be the best way to go and you would pay the cost of a first class or business class flight.”
