Who better to design a collapsible 3D lamp than high-tech design firm Studio Dror? Rather than use standard tools, the engineers enlisted the help of lasers. Video after the break. Here's how the process works:

The process works by sweeping a laser across a pan of powdered nylon; when the lasers hit the nylon, it fuses ("sinters"). The process repeats in layers, until the final product emerges.
