Akira Nagaya, a self-taught artist from Japan, has mastered kirie, or extremely fine paper cutting. It all started when he was 20-something and a sushi decorator, which entailed cutting slices into bamboo leaves. As time wore on, he’d use his set of knives to carve various patterns into paper. Now 47-years-young, his paper-cut designs are so intricate they look to be straight from a laser cutting machine. Click here to view the first image in this week’s WINS gallery.
