LEGO GumGun

Put simply, this rapid fire rubber band gun is one of the coolest LEGO creations we've come across. Unfortunately, no instructions were provided on how to build your own. Video after the jump.
This rapid fire LEGO gun looks like lots of fun. This is what you need on your side when the next office battle breaks out.

Wah, what fun! I made two small pistols out of lego once, but that was using those special rubber lego thingy shooters. This is so much more original! :)

Yeah, thats cool, but it's really not that hard. I built something near exactly the same as that, its über easy. Just look at it, what you see is what you get, it pretty much shows you how to build it just by showing the video/pictures of it :)

I started working on one of those yesterday, after seeing this video. I can get it so that when I pull the trigger, it fires all the rubber bands in the gun at once... I just can't get them to firew one at a time. I need some sort of locking mechanism..... I'll keep working no the concept.

i worked out how to build a rubber band gun... but its smaller: 1. make a "body" for the gun of 2 units down and across and 8 units long. 2. make a handle in any way you like at the back of the gun, normal type reccomended 3. put a thin block poking out the front on top of the front body, that keeps the bands in place 4. change to technic, make a triangle (small) structure. 5. put in two gears, front bigger than back. 6. make sure thos gears are touching though. 7. connect technic bit to guns back using a piece with circles, they fit! 8. load you rubber band with ones half under the frontpiece and another in the back gear cogs. 9. put your thumb the front gear and push. 10. dont forget to point it away from you!

Well after seeing the video, I decided to improve my old design (http://ericscomp.homeip.net:8181/1337/rbgun/) and figured out mostly how it works. -bands are loaded onto 14 tooth small gear (16 tooth works too) -this is geared 5:1 with the 40 and 8 tooth gears -this again is geared down 3:1 with the 24 and 8 tooth gears -overall ratio is 15:1, which means your 14 tooth gear will turn 1/15 of a rotation (almost 1 tooth) for every whole turn of the geared-down axle. -a simple locking mechanism can be constructed on the geared-down axel with a sliding upside-down Technic beam with 2 pins in it, 1 hole between the two pins. (+ is pin) oooo+o+oooooo and one of those weird axel-90-degree-pin converter thingys that they give you a lot of but you can never find a use for. It fits nicely between the two pins. oooo+U+oooooo when the beam is pulled back, the tension causes the weird piece to flip around and hit the second pin oooo+//+oooooo and when moved back, it lines back up in between the two. oooo+U+oooooo If you can figure out that much, it doesnt take a genius to make a barrel, handle, and more convenient trigger.
