Called the LOLriokart, this creation took MIT student Charles Guan one year and $300 to build. It's powered by nickel-cadmium batteries and can reach speeds in excess of 25mph. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

According to Guan's math, given its weight and motor power, the cart could have gone 45mph. That seemed a little risky, though, so he switched in a smaller motor sprocket, which cuts the rate at which the chain turns the rear axle.
