Businessman Angelo Mastropietro spent 8-months transforming a 700-year-old cave in the Wyre Forest in Worcestershire into a modern home, complete with running water, underfloor heating and even high-speed WiFi. Most surprising of all, he took on the project single-highhandedly, without hiring outside contractors. Everything from carving, cutting, drilling into the sandstone hillside – including excavating 70-tons of stone by hand – had to be carefully planned.
