Microsoft has just released the first "Windows Vista" commercial -- they really want users to "see the difference". What are your thoughts? Video after the jump.
i like the mexican music and the weird chick spinning in the chair at the begining. oh yeah.... buy a mac.

Wow, that is a promotional commercial for vista? That didn't show me ANYTHING that would make me want to buy vista. Get to work Microsoft marketing.

Well, at least it's not far worse than Steve Ballmer screaming at us to buy Windows 1.0, LOL

It doesn't actually show vista, nothing running it, no one using it.
I could mistake the ad was meant for a bank.
They are really pushing the business thing, companies want long lasting rep of stability like win2k not another attempt at XP.

Microsoft did a great job for the Gears of War commercials, they need to hire that company to do its Vista commercials

ok, so is there a commercial for VISTA in this. I just see some people dancing around to some crapy music and some words that I don't care to read thrown up on the screen........ did I miss the commercial :)
The commercial was probably edited on a VISTA computer, so since it's already 10-12% slower with desktop graphics, maybe it couldn't handle editing real video footage.
Pretty poor commercial I'd say..... but just my $0.02

Well the most important message i get from the ad is that the "new business opportunities" and "new solutions". Does that mean the business man is going to earn more from us?
Come on, I don't see any new solutions for us end users.

Well, at least its just as stupid as Apple's commercials -> it's just a load of marketing bullcrap to nudge n00bs into buying their product without actually knowing what they buy! People just buy into pretty pictures and think thats cool.
I get very aggrevated by modern marketing, and most of all that it actually works.. is anybody actually thinking? Is humanity doomed by mass-insanity? Does anybody actually want dancing people and mexican music on their PC? Its pretentios nonsense!
They should make a commercial that simply says: It's does the same as before, but now it's more stable and prettier to look at, plus it has a few new features. But you still need to spend $$$ on software to actually make it do something usefull.

It said commercial, not TV spot. That looks more like a promotionnal video for enterprises. We get them all them time where I work.
Any one as seen the Dell/Oracle promo vid they did? (its on youtube) It was really funny, this is just corporate boredom.

You'd think that after 20 years, Microsoft would learn not to skimp on the marketing department. That's the kind of commercial you get when you assign art majors to try and design for technical folk: visually appealing without any substance.

what's that? 30 lines of text in the whole ad? I hate ads in which you have to read a lot. Apple ads are awesome, like the iPod one. The only thing they wrote was "iPod+Something" at the total end.
Worst ad ever, the packaging is good though.

What does a 360 controller have anything to do with vista?

Mr.Wednesday
Why is a guy using a xbox360 controller in the end of the video? Are we going to be able to use the controller with Vista? Or will Vista be able to play Xbox360 games? Now Im curious why they show that controller there...

Horrible, horrible ad. Tell someone that its a spoof of the REAL vista ad, and they would probably think its hilarious.

All you guys and your questions. The controller was there because Vista will have increased functionality with the Xbox 360 over your network and the actual look of Vista is quite nice and you can ge RC2 or release candidate two if you want here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx. Although the customer review program is closed you can still probably get it somewhere and if you need a key I have one contact me at jeff.hodges@hodgesbadge.com , I only have one so don't all be wanting it and you still have to have already gotten the somftware.
