Mighty Morphin Rayered-X

Rayered-X (pronounced Layered-X) is an innovative robot with four extremeties - each consisting of seven servos - that give it 28 degrees of freedom. It sports a custom aluminum frame, is 50 cm tall and weighs around 8 pounds. Unfortunately, it only placed 24th during the "Demonstration" phase of the Robo-One competition. "At first it looks like a short tower, then becomes a carousel, then a walking spider, then into a tall biped battle robot. It can even transform an arm into a new leg and keep on fighting."

There is a purpose. It's the precurser to gigantic battle robot's that are made oh so famous in japanese anime. Give it 5 more year's... we'll see something scary.

you ever wonder why japan is always on the leading edge of technology? its because they arent afraid to pursue these "meaningless" innovations, eventually one will lead to something great, you cant advance if you dont try

For long distance medical procedures. For military purposes. For deep sea exploration. For construction. For transportation. For electronics assembly. Etc. Need any more reasons dumb-ass? Ah, well, bit of a problem here.. On one hand, Kevin is a downright moron. After all, Kevin, what profound purpous was your statement? Shit, your e x i s t e n c e is meaningless, if you spend it posting on issues you obviously don't care about. On the other hand, the production of a robot like that proves, entirely, the decadent status of Japanese culture; let us not forget that the Ancient Greeks, instead of embracing new technologies practically, used them for Temple Tricks and entertainment (Indeed, the Greeks discovered the steam engine; however, instead of using it to power ANYTHING, the just made it go and watched it flip and roll and crash around town). And, the last comment about the 'uses' this robot can give us: yes, 1337, in regard to Kevin, you tore him a new asshole. However, space exploration, the furthering of medicine and other such jargon is not 'progress' in my eyes as far as it is even m o r e decadence; it is the leap outside of a natural cycle to further not the planet, not the animals, plants and other such instinctual organisms, but the humans who've destroyed it, again and again through such senseless and violent display's of science and technology. And with that, I'm out.

Greeks discovered the steam engine your worng about that Tommy boy In 844 AD Roman engineers develop the first working steam engine but they could not see what they had and what use it was for and relied more on slave power.

hey...this is cool stuff. Robotics has always fascinated me,since my childhood. No work is futile,everything has purpose.Someday, this innovative design will definitely be used for greater good of mankind. Kudos to the designer!!
