We’ve featured Michael Paul Smith’s work before, but his fictional “Elgin Park” town is an optical illusion worth revisiting. This professional model maker and photographer uses forced perspective to make the 1950s town appear more real than not. All of the cars were handmade and are detailed enough to not be mistaken for toys when shot up-close. “I created Elgin Park so anybody can be there. It’s a miniaturization of life,” said Smith.
