The monster jellyfish you see above was photographed by a family walking on the beach at Howden Australia last month. According to CSIRO jellyfish expert Lisa-ann Gershwin, among the unprecedented tide of jellyfish that had drifted into Tasmanian waters in the past two years was a new species yet to be classified. Herald Sun reports that “Dr Gershwin said it was not clear if the large numbers of jellyfish were an anomaly or a sustained invasion, but the plankton-eating jellyfish would rob many other fish of their food.”
