Plastic Logic unveils MorePhone, a shape-shifting handset that actually folds up when a call is received, thanks to ‘smart memory’ wires in a thin plastic display. Technically speaking, when a current is applied to them, they contract, causing the display to curl. Continue reading for a video and more information.

Here’s how it works: Located beneath the display are a vast number of shape-confirming alloy wires that contract when a notification is received. This essentially enables MorePhone to either curl its entire body, or up to three individual corners.

Best of all, each of the corners can be customized to convey a particular message. One example would be setting the top right corner to bend when receiving a text message, and the bottom right corner when receiving an email. They can also repeatedly bend up and down to convey urgent messages.
