That’s right, NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft has now entered the “magnetic highway”, which according to scientists, is a previously unknown layer of the solar system. Voyager 1 is now more than 11-billion miles from the sun, and its signal takes approximately 17-hours to travel to Earth. Even more significant, once the spacecraft breaks through to interstellar space, it will be the first man-made object to leave the solar system, says Edward Stone, Voyager project scientist based at the California Institute of Technology, in Pasadena, California.
