TSA has implemented new airport security rules, due to the flight 253 incident, and they include: a body search and no electronics permitted on international flights bound for the US. Plus, no passengers are allowed to move from their seat during the last hour of flight.
These measures are designed to be unpredictable, so passengers should not expect to see the same thing everywhere.
