New Surveillance Technology

NewScientist reports that EMITALL has developed a new add-on system for video surveillance feeds that "singles out any people in a video feed, on the basis of their movement, and disguises them digitally while leaving the rest of the scene intact". Three video clips after the jump.
This means the resulting video can then be viewed by anyone, but only those in possession of the encryption key can unlock the scrambled regions and identify the people shown on-screen

To bad the videos do not demonstrate if this software can actually singel out people, or if it just overlays its effect over any moving thing... so if person a carries a big box, will the box too be desguised, or just person a... ?

Not point less at all just give your employies keycards on badges thet blur only them and leaves intruders clear makes security problems alot easy'er to control.... "Brilliant idea indeed Bob"

And what exactly would be the point of blurring out your employee's? Anyways, i think the point of making everyone blurred is that if someone steals the tape of the surveillance then they can't see who is in it.

Kinda wierd that only one person read the quote about it before posting. The point of it is that it puts security on the security tapes, so you have to have a code to view the people in it. When you put in the code, it unblurs the people.

I can't even see the video behind this firewall, but i am assuming the technolgy will work differently as suggested. Say you are in a croweded airport with hundreds of people. You want to isolate the guy with the bomb. Blur out everyone else and it is easy to see.
