A powerful new strain of the norovirus has been spreading across the US, and it’s been causing quite a stir online. According to health officials, since September, more than 140 outbreaks have been reported in the US, caused by the new Sydney strain. Continue reading for the news report and more information.

Norovirus is very contagious and most often spreads in places where people frequent, such as schools, cruise ships and nursing homes, especially during the winter. Last month, 220 people on the Queen Mary II were stricken during a Caribbean cruise. Sometimes it’s mistaken for the stomach flu, the virus causes bouts of vomiting and diarrhea for a few days.
