Just when you thought the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti was a formidable video card, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti comes along. This top-of-the-line consumer GPU allegedly features 11GB of GDDR6 memory, complete with 4,352 CUDA cores, which is 20% more than the existing 3584 CUDA cores found on the GTX 1080 Ti. The company will officially launch the GeForce RTX series on Monday, showcasing their real-time ray-tracing abilities, which enables games to render new real-time lighting effects, all based on the company’s new Turing architecture. “The ray-tracing rendering technique produces real-time light reflections and cinematic effects that game developers can make use of in titles. Microsoft has created a new DirectX Raytracing (DXR) API to compliment Nvidia’s RTX work, and even Epic Games will be making real-time ray tracing available to Unreal Engine developers later this year,” reports The Verge.
