This Origami DVD Player concept uses a fully-flexible display technology (e-paper) to ensure maximum portability. When not in use, the screen folds up neatly back into the case. From the image, it looks to sport integrated speakers as well. No word yet on if this concept will go into production.
As a product, it would target the business traveler who wants a convenient way to watch DVD movies.
Yeah epaper already exists, but since it is designed not to use much power, it is very unlikely it would last long for video playing.

YES a folding screen is possible, its called OLED, just OLED isnt far enough in its lifetime to make a good flexible screen(theyre having major issues with the lifetimes of the colour OLEDs+ theyd have to make flexible boards to attatch the pixels together)
but e-paper? maybe, i havent a clue.

we're a long way for some "quality" epaper... the image quality of these foldable screens are horrid

Although it "exists", it seems no human being has ever seen/touched/used it.

James, you do realize it says "No word yet on if this concept will go into production." Which means it doesn't exist yet, Its just a concept

If such a type of screen existed they wouldve made an announcement on the news. I mean a folding, paper-like screen? Thats a pretty big deal

[...] The Origami DVD player, is a concept design of a possible way to carry around a ,dvd player, aswell as a massive screen. The way it works, is by using Epaper, which is basically a bendy folderable screen. The whole device, could have any size screen, and could fold up into something, slightly larger then a DVD. The problem is, is there is no epaper yet, and isn’t very practical for portable use, seeing who wants to unfold a giant screen on a bus or similar. On top of that, does this Epaper crease, and after a while become unwatchable? I guess we will have to wait and see. For more info, fold over to the TechEBlog Website. [...]
