Ox Flat-Pack Truck IKEA

The Ox flat-pack, slab-sided truck designed for developing countries is now going into production, according to Shell. The company has commissioned a pre-production prototype of the Ox currently that is headed to India to assist in outreach programs. Thanks to its IKEA-like design, a team can break the vehicle down to just 60 parts in 12-hours, enabling it to be easily shipped anywhere in the world. "They're two-wheel-drive but function well in off-road landscape and boast a low cost with few parts, meaning lower maintenance. And because of its flat-pack design, they're easily shipped to these communities that in turn assemble the truck onsite. Each Ox hosts a 4 cylinder 16-valve Diesel Ford PT22 engine, with a displacement of 2198cc and can easily fit up to 10 people in the covered bed of the truck," according to Hi Consumption.
