Cool! Something like this to show up was just a matter of time... Now we just need some Ps3 mod chips and voila! Can anyone say Bootleg PS3 games?

Does this mean that the first burners will actually be dual layer instead of having to wait almost five years for one?

About damn time. I'm sick of all these people talking about Blu-Ray as a proprietary Sony format, and I'm tired about a really good standard being pushed aside by HD-DVD. I guess with smaller disks HD-DVD can force us to change formats later on, to the new REALLY HD-DVD, which will feature slightly higher resolutions. Toshiba's working on a 3-layer HD-DVD disk (45GB) and guess what... it's STILL smaller than a dual layer Blu-Ray disk (50GB). I know capacity is not the be all and end all, but I'm waiting for someone to come up with an argument for HD-DVD that does not talk about Betamax, or who the hell is first to market. First to market = better product? I guess that means the X-Box 360 is going to blow the PS3 away, huh?

Who is gonna actually buy this? I mean a blank disc is probably gonna be $20 a disc. Even if you were to get the whole set up and discs for about a $1000 what are you going to burn on them. Unless you have an HD camera and the computer to process the video you won't use it. If you do, price is probably not an issue. For the rest of us average geeks that much for a drive is out of range. Currently there aren't any files that big that require 50GB. Unless you are an internet cleptomaniac then you won't be able to download enough stuff to fill them. I am sure copying store bought discs will not be possible for years to come. And to Robert, Its not about the size, company, timing, or resolution. Its about the consumer. You can have the best product in the world, and do everything you are supposed to for it to be successful. However, if the consumers can't see the value in it you will be bankrupt.
