PlayStation 3: Then vs. Now

TekkenFan gives us a look at the "PlayStation 3: Then vs. Now". Aesthetically, there have been a few changes, most notably a bulkier ventilation/cooling system. What are your thoughts? More pictures after the jump.
Using mostly SCEA's official PS3 photos, from both 2005 and now 2006, I have compiled a decent collection of images that compare the models side by side

the vents do not look as good as the orginal concept...however they are a subtle hint of the power under the hood

I like the silver color, but black makes it look sleek, both should be made available to the public... (both colors, not models)

This is the ugliest Console I have ever seen. Worse than the fat ps2. worse than the 3do worse than the jaguar even. It's even worse than the hideous new top loading NES. I am tempted to wait till they bring out the slim version of this. Seriously. the thing is hideous. Who designed that? Fire them NOW.
