Rendering a CD unreadable in a standard drive gives no measure of security if someone is determined to get your data. That's almost the same as smashing the controller board on a HD and saying your data is unrecoverable. Wrong. People who don't get the value of this device probably have nothing worth stealing.

you could bury the cd's or smash them with a hammer. or just scratch them up alot. Save money and time and destroy them yourself.
