Powerdesk

Powerdesk is an ideal option for anyone who wants "truly effective integration of computer and workstation". Now there's no excuse for unsightly cables and cords hanging out all over the place. Customize the Powerdesk with any computer of your choice. Most of the components - sans monitor/keyboard/mouse - are seamlessly integrated into the desk. Prices start at $1,882 for non-lifting models and $2,701 with computer.

such a simple, but good concept. i'm surprised someone hasn't come out with this before (maybe they have and i just don't know). i don't think i'd get one, but for the average user, this is a great idea.

This looks pretty cool, but what OS is it designed for? In the screenshot it looks like Windows XP Would there be any chance of getting a Mac version?
3
too bad the puzzle design is butt ugly.
4
nice, but what about when you need to upgrade?

If you read the company's site you'll see that you can get it in any look you want and with any type of computer, including a Mac. Upgrading is no issue either.

Cute conversation piece but the question practicality always creeps in after the cute. It would be wholly impractical to have to keep a computer as long as you keep your desk. It also makes it even less likely that you could sell it later or reuse the computer for something else. While I buy a new computer every couple of years I typically suck the life out of the previous one. In other words I continue to use for something it until it begs to die. For instance I have a Dell Small Form Factor that was banished from the desktop but found a new life coupled it with a 10” flat touchscreen and it’s now doing time as a music server. And as far as unsightly cables, has anyone not gone to wireless mouse’ and keyboards?

Glacia00 is a smart man. Like I'm gonna pay $2000 for a desk I won't need in another year or two

Hi. I work for Powerdesk. I can see that you have some interesting questions about our products. I just wanted to say that, if you want, I'd be happy to answer any of them personally, just email me at: sam@powerdesk.com. One point I'd like to clarify is that all our designs use industry-standard, fully upgradeable PCs from major manufacturers such as Dell and HP, which come with the manufacturer's onsite warranty. Upgrading your PC is easy and can be done very quickly (5-10mins)

For that much money, you could buy loads of cable management and security devices to take care of "unsightly cables" and the threat of someone taking your computer because they can see it. Cool idea if it gave you means to swap out the parts, essentially a case mod that turned your computer into a desk. Otherwise, I had my last desk for over 6 years, there isn't a screw in my computer over 6 months old.
