Thanks to two electric motors – producing 156 HP (115 kW) and approximately 129 HP (95 kW) – powering each axle, the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder has a combined maximum output of 887hp (661 kW) and more than 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. There’s a steering wheel-mounted “map switch” that enables drivers to select between five different drive modes. One of them is “E-Power mode”, which lets it operate on electricity alone. There’s also Hybrid mode, in which the electric motors and combustion engine work alternately to maximize efficiency.
