PS3 Set to Launch in November

Ken Kutaragi has announced - at Sony's "2006 PlayStation Business Briefing" - that the PS3 will be launching simultaneously in North America, Europe, and Asia come early November. Other tidbits, the PS3 will be 100% backwards compatible (legacy titles played will be displayed in HD resolutions), have full Blu-Ray support, and an HDMI connection.
In addition, Sony will release "one million units per month [after launch; sorry for any confusion this may have caused] with a total of six million units in 2006 alone. Production numbers are higher for PS1 and PS2 in their initial years."

Yeah thats ugly. The slim ps2 looks better. Ah well, I just wish they'd hurry up and release it.

im 16yo, and hav been a loyal fan of the SONY Playstation every since i got my first 'Playstation' when i was like probably 8 or somthing. i dont know. someone else can work it out. however i dont hate Nintendo or Xbox, they are great. i had a 'Super NES' with DK and other titles but since i saw the 'goodness' in Playstation, and Crash bandicoot/Gran Turismo, iv been loyal since. now that this baby is 'SOON' to be released i am happy once more that the name continues on. From the first Nintendo when it was new up until now with Playstation and what not.. You are a Loyal fan only because you've own a Playstation since you were little. That's like alot of my friends who grew up with the old Nintendo, they like to stick with what they know..I think, sub-conciously, you're being partial. Of course I'M getting a PS3 as soon as it comes out. Even if it costs like $900, I'm buying one.

Ok, I have all the i guess "old" systems back to SNES. From getting them from cousins, aunts, uncles, etc, I got them. I'm 14 by the way. When I was younger, I loved the Nintendo systems. When I was in my pre-adolescent years I was a Sony fan. And since about 11 y.o, I have fallen into the grasp of the Xbox. I am partial when it comes to a heated fight over which system is best, and I dont deny that. If Sony doesnt do good on this they are gonna go bankrupt.Then Microsoft will take over for a while untill another relatively unknown system emerges like Xbox did post y2k anyways, I am just fairly interested to see what happens in the future for gaming... i just wanna see a forward step in gaming and not a step backwards...what will the next gen hold? -VR? -3D immursion -what else? I personallly wanna stay with a controler rather then a VR helmet or something...

^^^for that matter than, $20 bucks says by launch blu-ray capability gets cancelled as well and its all standard DVD format lol =]
