PS3 to Cost $803 in the UK

According to Rat Maguire -- head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe UK -- the 60GB PlayStation 3 will cost $803 (£425) at launch. He also "stressed the machine would nonetheless be the cheapest way to buy into Blu-ray".
Interviewed by Eurogamer, SCE UK Managing Director Rat Maguire said: "I don't think it's an expensive machine - I think actually, it's probably a cheap machine. If you think a Blu-Ray player by itself might be £600-700, and we're coming in at just £425, it's a bargain."

Two Head, Bill Gates runs Microsoft, not Sony, you idiot. Either way, Sony is terrible. All their products suck, and now they're charging 200 extra for Playstations based on country location? Wow.

Charging more for country location?? say it isn't so! It's like they might have to pay tarrifs or something since there aren't any production plants in europe! Why oh why isn't there a trade agreement between Japan and the UK? Things cost more in the UK, bottom line. You ever been to London? It will kill your pocket book.

Cory: Anything over $400 for system is retarded. Even that is pushing it. Things do cost more, for sure. But a 33% increase is just robbery.

Typical rip-off Britain! I personally don't desperately want a PS3, but it just goes to show us here in the UK are ALWAYS shafted for everything we buy. Problem is we complain for like a day or so, but then we'll bite the bullet and go out and buy one at the ridiculous price!Vote with your feet people -don't but it at this price...I'm so fed up with life here (UK) I'm moving to Australia. Slightly off topic, but I was recently looking at buying a second-hand car and I was amazed at how many extras are included in a standard model of a US car (Chrysler Neon) compared with a European counterpart in a similar price range. Other people of the world refuse to let things like this happen to them, but as I said before -we just lie dowand take it! Do you guys across the 'pond' know we are paying almost $7.00 per gallon of fuel!!..."taxing it to help the environment" my ass! -we are a tiny country compared to the sh1t that other countries pump out!! Rant over.

Wow, then once you get games, accesories, a movie or any other extras then you are looking at $1200 easy. I think sony shot themselves in the foot this time.

minimum wage per country, in euros (roughly) US: 4.2 Britain: 7.4 Netherlands: 8 Notice anything? a dollar, or a euro, here does not equal a dollar there. Hell, a dollar in New York does not equal a dollar in Montana.
