We have seen the future of Halloween costumes, and they may all include a built-in projector. A team of digital designers have created Omote to show that living makeup – a breathing, moving human being’s face – can be transformed into just about anything or anyone. Designer Asai wanted created his own version of the traditional Japanese Noh masks worn by theatrical actors with with a twist. First, he laser-scanned his model’s face and created a 3D mesh, which forms the basis for the projection map. Next, motion-tracking dots were placed onto the model’s face to create digital makeup that moves with the person, never fading or losing its structure.
