Researchers at Cambridge University have developed ProFORMA, a new model acquisition system that basically uses a webcam to "generate a 3D model on-line as the input sequence is being collected." Video after the break.

Look at how it overlays scanned textures on the person's hand to create a transparency effect. Neato!
