Revo Power

For those who love/hate biking, check out "Revo Power". This device is a motorized replacement bike wheel that "takes standard two-stroke fuel, the same stuff you fill your lawnmower with, and will add 15 pounds of weight to your bike." It goes on sale next year, priced at $400. This is what Adam had to say:
I've always wanted to combine my bicycle with an engine or motor, but I just don't know if it would catch on. First of all, what would you call such a crazy contraption? An enginecycle? That would never catch on

Great idea but seems I remember that anything with an "Engine in Front of it" that you were trying to control with a simple pair of handle bars always had some ideas of it's own... As in *Torque* and trying to *Turn* that sucker without running into the nearest telephone pole or person that was not quick enough to get out of your way... I'm sure I'm wrong this time but I still have memories from days gone by... I think it was 1871 the last time I rode one of those... Ahh the Memories.... hehehe

puting the engine in the wheel would apear to me to be the worst place if you still aim to assist with pedaling as the lighter the rotating parts of a bike the better it performs. The enging in the frame would be better as it is not a rotating part. also the steering would also be effected i would think it would be much harder to steer with such a heavy front wheel. i cannot see the point of this really? how fast does it go?

No, that would be a Moped.

1. $400 is cheaper than a moped. 2. It is a retrofit for ANY bike. 3. There is NO torque steering because there is no opposed drive wheel. 4. The point is it freak'n works and can make climbing those huge hills a lot easier for those riding in the mountain states. 5. the engine in the front wheel and / or rear wheel is perfectly sound for a bike. You could use the space in the middle for a pack, fuel, camping gear, etc... Are you using your imagination to figure out what you CAN do rather than what you CAN'T? Pffft.

that is also 32.19km/h, a good average for a road bike. Not bad.

I think its a great idea, but most mid to high end mountain bikes have disk brakes now, as of right now the wheel is not compatible with disk brakes. If this became an option I would definitely buy this wheel.
