Anyone stargazing this past Sunday may have seen a ring around the moon, also known as a lunar halo, caused by ice crystals that refract the moonlight in earth's upper atmosphere. Continue reading to watch a time-lapse video of the phenomena.

The shape of the ice crystals focuses the refracted light, thus forming into a into a ring-like structure around the moon.
