Scientists have discovered a massive underground ocean of water on Saturn's moon, Enceladus. The Cassini spacecraft conducted gravity measurements that show the internal structure of the moon, including the ocean of water underneath the moon's icy crust. This makes Enceladus a potential home for extraterrestrial life within our solar system. Continue reading for a video and more information.
According to Linda Spilker, Cassini's project scientist, the discovery is particularly exciting because the conditions appear just right for life. "Material from Enceladus' south polar jets contains salty water and organic molecules, the basic chemical ingredients for life."
