The Social Pool installation is a public pool unlike any other. Austrian artist Alfredo Barsuglia is the mastermind behind this project and decided to construct it on an isolated stretch of the Mojave Desert. Being out in the middle of nowhere is only half the battle, people who actually want to visit will need to visit the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles and obtain a special key as well as special GPS coordinates. Then, you’ll need to have an off-road vehicle capable of reaching the location. Fortunately, it’s open from now until September 30th, so there’s plenty of time for those interested to venture out there.
