Sony DCR-SR100 HDD Camcorder

The Sony DCR-SR100 camcorder is solidly constructed and offers a built-in 30GB hard drive that is capable of storing up to 20 hours of LP video -- 440 minutes of high-quality video. Other features include a 3.3-megapixel HAD CCD, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lenses, integrated microphone, and Sony's NightShot infrared system. How clean does that thing look? I want one even though I would rarely use it.

yeah, I got a camera like this. Mines is only a 20GB though. Very handy, except that the battery life is short ( 1 hr with a full charge)

Hi, I am planning to buy this camera, because of the 21 hour recording capacity (7 hour in HQ). It also seems to have a good lens. What worries me is the lack of info. For instance, is it possible to transfer the MPEG file to another digital camera? My video editing software works very bad with MPEG files (it prefers AVI files) and I would transfer from the SR-100 to my digital camera and from this camera to my CPU. Also, why no D-link connection, on this camera? Pierre.

Hi, I know JVC has released quite afew Everio G models of the HDD. How does the Sony brand differs to the JVC?
