Sony Online Entertainment servers were taken offline yesterday due to an intrusion in which “12,700 credit card numbers were stolen.” Currently, “we know that 4,300 of the card numbers were Japanese in origin.” Continue reading for a brief fan report.

The SOE network is responsible for hosting games like EverQuest – so you can imagine the magnitude of such a crime. However a silver lining surrounds this dark cloud; the stolen details are claimed to be from the year 2007, which means most of the credit card info stolen should have been expired by now.
