Sony PSi Concept?

NewTechSpy reports that Sony will be releasing an updated PSP model called the "PSi", which is smaller (4.5-inches wide) and sports a 3-inch LCD touch screen display. The "PSi" also supports Wi-Fi, WiBro, UMTS, EVDO, and future WiMax networks. A "virtual keyboard" (on touch screen display) will make web surfing much easier. Sony has not yet confirmed the "PSi".
From the article: "New Tech Spy has learned through well placed sources that Sony is apparently hedging its bets against the possible death of UMD and positioning itself against Nintendo’s DS lite, which sold an impressive 380,000 in Japan in March."

yeah, if the idea doesn't strike you as fake, the retro styling from the lynx era of handheld gaming would. This photoshop artist didn't take into account any modern design.

i agree with Fealiks...so did the grocery store rip off DS because we now have touch screen cash registers? no, of course not.the PSP is big...but thats part of it's beauity...if it was smaller, its more like an Ipod, and i hate those. i cant stand to watch a video on a screen smaller than my palm...the PSPs original design is almost flawless. Cool looking system but I'm a Nintendo fan, not a Sony fan, but I'll get it anyways!

Putting a touch screen on a PSP is such a rip off... NOT! Damn morons! Nintendo did not invent the touch screen! I never heard anyone saying that Nintendo DS is a rip-off. In 1971, the first "touch sensor" was developed by Doctor Sam Hurst (founder of Elographics) while he was an instructor at the University of Kentucky. This sensor called the "Elograph" was patented by The University of Kentucky Research Foundation. The "Elograph" was not transparent like modern touch screens, however, it was a significant milestone in touch screen technology. In 1974, the first true touch screen incorporating a transparent surface came on the scene developed by Sam Hurst and Elographics. In 1977, Elographics developed and patented five-wire resistive technology, the most popular touch screen technology in use today. On February 24, 1994, the company officially changed its name from Elographics to Elo TouchSystems So shut the **** up about Sony ripping DS!!! And they should keep the PSP the sam size, the screen is perfect!
