Why bother with a jetpack, when you’re the one and only Swiss “Jetman” Yves Rossy? This past Saturday he “completed an eight-minute flight along the Grand Canyon, one day later than planned and away from the media spotlight.” Thankfully, everything went smoothly and no injuries were reported. Video after the break.

Leaping from a helicopter about 8,000 feet above the canyon floor, Rossy picked up speed and fired up his jet-wing, which he steers using his body as a kind of rudder/aileron. During the eight minute flight, he startled onlookers by passing over the rim only 200 feet above their heads, hitting speed of up to 190 miles per hour.
