Researchers in Taiwan discovered that when they added gold nanoparticles to Bacopa caroliniana plants, it caused the chlorophyll in them to produce a reddish glow. That's not all, "while lit, the glowing trees vegetation consumed more carbon from the atmosphere than normal." Continue reading for one more picture. Here's what this means:

PopSci calls this a "triple threat," in that the trees could cut energy costs, reduce global warming and keep streets safely lit at night.
