Alex Schueth, a storm chaser, managed to capture a mind-boggling time-lapse video of a rare cloud formation called a undulatus asperatus – the name means “roughened or agitated waves” – during a storm over Lincoln, Nebraska, this past summer. The ominous-looking clouds have been particularly common in the Plains states of the United States, often during the morning or midday hours following convective thunderstorm activity.
