The Konishoruko Rokuoh-Sha Type 89 may look like a machine gun, but it’s actually a functional camera that was used for military training exercises in World War II. These were mounted onto fighter planes to capture battles, or to be more specific, confirming kills for pilots as well as evaluating how accurate pilots are in training without using live rounds. “When the trigger is pulled, the camera runs, with footage being taken of what the gun is aimed at, as well as an optional stopwatch; after landing, the film can be analyzed by the trainers for proper lead and burst timing,” according International Military Antiques.
