Arden Warner has devised an innovative way of cleaning up oil spills by organically magnetizing oil by adding ground magnetite. The viscous material then binds to the magnetite and is able to be pulled along when a magnet sweeps by, thus allowing spills to be quarantined, and removed from the ocean. Warner’s goal is to create a system of containment booms which collects the magnetized oil and draws it into a container with a magnetized base.
