How to: Speed up Windows

How to: Make Web Pages Load "Lightning" Fast

"T.C." shows us how to tweak IE/FireFox to make web pages load "lightning" fast. If you have any other tips, please leave us a comment.
A must-see tweak for FireFox and Internet Explorer users. Most browsers are configured for dial-up. Tweak the settings more to boost surfing speeds and minimize page load times

How to: Make Windows XP Boot Faster

"G" shows us how to make Windows XP boot faster by tweaking prefetch values in the registry. If you've tried this, does it work? More information here. Here's how prefetch works (courtesy of Intelliadmin):
Yesterday you used MS Word, and Duke Nukem 3D. Today you boot your system to check e-mail. It sees parts of these two programs in the prefetch folder and loads them into memory before windows completes the boot process. The benefit is faster application launch times. If you really wanted to use MS Word, it would pop up really quick when you double clicked on it

Quick PC Shutdown

This interesting video shows you how to assign the "Shut Down PC" function to an icon. If you've found any other creative ways to use this trick, please leave us a comment.

Step # 2: The Create Shortcut wizard then pops up. Here, you can type in shutdown -s -t 0 . (what you typed in here were the alphabets s and t and the number zero with spaces in between)

yeah, tried them all, firstly the memory optimize is ok, especially if you are like me and dont shutdown for days, even weeks at a time... quick pc shutdown seems to work better for the older machines with less ram... boot faster is ok on my machine (the only one ive tested it on so far}, but is negligable... same with the boot up one, although a few minutes in services.msc can do way better :)... im yet do see a difference with the speed up internet one at all, go figure, i have 8meg broadband, its fast enough already imo.... but the pagefile one is the best, we'd tried this one out months ago on a new server computer and set the pagefile on a raptor alone, the resuylts were just astounding :)... first post, techeblog rocks etc etc

Man, while I was doing the "Internet pages load faster" thing, I can't find that key MaxConnections, both of them. what do you think it's happening?
