Iris Peste noticed that her tortoise was having mobility problems, so a trip to veterinarian Dr. Carsten Plischke’s office aimed to find out just what was wrong. Plischke discovere worms and a growth disorder that caused Blade’s limbs to become so weak that he could no longer walk on his own. “For people there are walkers, rollators or prostheses but for animals there are no companies that produce something like that. The size variation of animals means they can’t establish uniform products. So you have to come up with creative solutions; every animal needs its own treatment,” says Dr. Plischke says.
