Touchscreen Boombox PC

Finally, an old boombox has been put to good use. Gutterslide's "Touchscreen Boombox PC" combines a Hitachi TRK-8200HR and Fujitsu Stylistic 1200 Color Tablet PC into the sleek retro package you see above. Powered by Windows 98, this PC features a 20GB hard drive, 802.11b Wi-Fi, internal webcam, 4 USB ports, and a "custom desktop to keep original aesthetics". More pictures after the jump...

it’s not a desktop. it’s a touchscreen tablet, and fully shoulderable. 8) cool mod.

The retro form isn't bad, but why the retro function? What is this thing supposed to be, exactly, a bulky mp3 player with a keyboard? A bad computer? If you're that hooked on retro, a lava lamp would take up less space on your desk.

Yeah this thing is crap Windows 98 sucks it's big laptop running on 98 too big to ugly if it was cheap i'll rip that touch screen and put that screen in my car

This is really cool, but they should have used Windows XP Tablet edition. Cool idea though. A++++++++ Would buy from again.

I think its awesome. what a bunch of babies , dissing someones hard work. i like the touch screen, i think i had that same boombox when i was 12 ! hehe

I think this is awesome and I'm tired of hearing Linux elitists. It isn't trying to run a server...it plays music! Windows 98 is fine for running that.

yeah, the linux fans need to settle down. this thing is awesome and the guy obviously spent a lot of time making it awesome. if it's only playing music then what's the point

I don't know what a lot of you are complaining about, as if you could make a machine better than this one? This is simply what a creative mind could do with an old radio, AND computer hardware, I'm sure a lot of people posting here aren't capable of even making anything close to this. So what it's running Windows 98, it wasn't a horrible OS, and maybe the creator LIKES 98. As for the specs? Who needs a high end PC, when you have such a cool looking one like that, more people would remember a PC that looked like this, rather than some powerhouse that takes up half a side of a desk, I'm sure of that.

lol windows alright?....you must love pain...did you know that most problems with windows have to do with collusion of interest between os developers and security vendors...windows is a huge social engineering experiement in giving up your tools of freedom...mmm ab it like bush and oil and 911....hohum. i use ubuntu linux now, and i have less stress in my life....my anger has reduced by 500%....life is good.

one word....Knoppmyth. Its a live cd, that you will not have to install. boot from cd and goooooo!. now if you port this to a usb drive instead, and boot off it...then woww... i used to ghost a 4gb windows partition for maintaining a pristine working version of windows, but this is the next best thing....security, easy to use, quick bootup....awesome....
