FJ40 Rat Rod

South Africa-based Allers Rods & Customs wanted to create a vehicle that combined classic ruggedness with hot rod-style flair, and this sleek rat rod, based on a 1975 Land Cruiser, was the result. This was not a simple project, as the front suspension had to be custom fabricated in-house and headlights from a VW Golf 1, while widened wheels as well as differential were sourced from a Land Rover Discovery. “AR&C also installed a Lexus radio, Momo steering wheel, and a roll cage to keep everything, including the driver, safe in transit. For the powerplant, Allers decided on a 300hp 1UZ Lexus V8 that when combined with this lightweight hot rod, gets things going quite fast. And to top everything off, it was painted with the original 1976 Toyota paint codes, keeping the Land Cruiser in sync with its roots,” according to Hi Consumption.
