USS Zumwalt Destroyer

The 610-foot-long USS Zumwalt destroyer embarked on its first mission this week, leaving Bath Iron Works in Maine for a commissioning ceremony on Oct 15th in San Diego. This 15,000-ton beast took 4-years to build at an estimated cost of $4.3 billion. Featuring a new weapons system that can fire 600 rocket-powered projectiles on targets more than 70 miles away. It boasts stealth capabilities, having a radar cross-section akin to a fishing boat, despite its large size. On the inside, you’ll find a Star Trek-like bridge, complete with two chairs enveloped by 360-degrees of displays. Click here to view the first image in today’s viral picture gallery.
