(Video) Brain-Computer Music Interface

Researchers at the University of Plymouth created this "Brain-Computer Music Interface", which uses two laptops to analyze brain waves and composes music based on the results. Video demonstration after the jump.

Its a fake... come on. I buy the part that the laptop scan the brain waves, and the part that the other laptop compose music with that signals too. But wath we can ear, is to complex for a computer. The music not only sound correct, but the notes sounds like ones played by a real person, I mean, the notes sound like been played with different force. I do belive that man can think and prosses all that information in hes brain (a piano player actualy do that) but we just don´t know that much about the diferents brain wave to make a software with the capacity to undertand all the littles differences, all the littles meanings of the brain waves. Remember that while the subject is suposed thinking of the music, his brain is make brain waves for the music AND for controling his body, AND for move his leg AND for EVERITING he things o do. You realy thing they make a program that can understand all the diferents brain waves... I dont think so.

Maybe it works with stored patterns and selects the best fit ones with a frequency comparsion of the measured brain electricity values? But that's a chaotic, non-consciousness random patterngenerator, in this way. Like us.

lmao....they expect us to believe this? The only way for this to be possible is if he had things goign into his brains, picking up the signals. For that they would need to be in a hospital or research facility. It looked like they were i na music store. Totally fake.

ROFL i dont think so. Has anyone seen the research paper on simmilar things such as this. For example, typing with your baind signals. It worked, but for 10characacters, it took 126 minutes to compute. Now were supposed to beleive that just 3 weeks later, you can compose full songs with your brain?? ha

It may however harness bioinfomatic technology to change tempo and volume of a preset song. But if it was something like that, this is still misleading. Also, most brainwaves don't change drastically enough (due to unconsious maintenace of posture, breathing, etc...) unless he went to sleep or took acid to illicit what would be large changes. hoax
