Mercedes-Benz's new S600 Guard could be the safest luxury sedan currently in production. It's powered by a bi-turbo V12 engine that produces an impressive 517hp. Video after the jump.
Mercedes shows us some of the unique functionality of the S600 Guard such as bullet-proof protection (yes, they fire bullets at the car), and air filtration systems to prevent smoke entering the cabin. Some of the attacks the vehicle is capable of withstanding include armour resisting military-standard small-arms projectiles, hand grenade fragments other explosive charges. Additional safety features include run-flat tyres, a self-sealing fuel tank and a fire-extinguishing system

pointless to be inside this car if ur driver betrayed you or got swapped
2
yingjai, This is real life, not a spy movie. Dumbass.
3
Now that's awesome, I want it!
4
This car does nothing my 1978 Winnebago Trailmaster can't accomplish, and it has a toilet, which this car does not have!
5
The only thing missing is "Bond, James Bond" Cool, but out of my price range, just a tad.
6
I bet most of their sales are coming from the mob.
7
anybody know what song this is?

Why the heck would you put dual brake rotors on a mercedes.. it's an automatic, and i garauntee that noone in their right mind will try to go 150+ mph in a benz. The whole bullet proof, and filtration systems are amazing, but i'm sure even a regular monthly check up and oil change will empty your bank account. Not to mention you'd have to take it to a specialty benz mechanic..who actually knows what he's doing.

maybe we should give this car to the troops in Iraq than they dont get blown to pieces...

to Alex who said, "Why the heck would you put dual brake rotors one a mercedes..." Because the bullistic armour adds atleast 2000 lbs to the total weight of the car. You would need alot of fiction surface to stop a heavy car like that reliably; this could be done by useing very large rotors and brake pads, by useing drum brakes, or by have two sets of brake pads acting on the same rotor. I'd like to see your Honda Civic stop on a dime after adding 2000 lbs of weight to the car.

why put dual brake rotors indeed. I am sure all that bullet-proofing weighs close to nothing, simple brakes should do fine. The next car I buy will be from Alex...

that songis pretty sweet, would also like to know what it is. nice wheels, but for the price tag i woiuld prefer a whole range of other cars.

maybe the dual rotors are there in case one gets shot out you still have brakes(although i don't know why you would want to use the brakes if somebody is chasing you with a gun!)

Interesting car, awful video. The music was attrocious, I couldn't even get through the whole thing because of it. They could have listed some more specs and cut the length down by 2/3 and it would have been good.
18
I think the idea of having 2 calipers on each rotor is amazing. Must have a much faster stop time.
19
german perfection ;) nice video... suitable music... great car :-)

I hope u no that i have three of these and they are awesome. What they didn't show in the video is that the trunk of the car leads to a world in a galaxy 4 trillion light years away.

why the hell would you want (a) a bullet proof car (b) a fire extinguishing system. the only practicle thing on this car is its run-flat tyres. the engine and break pads are nice and big but everything else is for paranoid knob jockeys and james bond

Did anyone think of government officials, politicians, diplomats and ambassadors, high ranking military officers, or maybe rich businesspeople that operate in high crime regions. There's always someone out there that wants someone else dead. There is indeed a big market for these kinds of vehicles.
24
even james bond would be like "ya thats rediculous"
