Fuel From Air

CNN recently aired this segment on the first compressed-air powered car -- "in addtion to being a zero emmission vehicle it is also claimed to actually make the air cleaner by removing particulate matter from the air." Video after the jump. What are your thoughts?
And it is also claimed to be friendly to the pocket book at a cost of about $6,000 per car. They are small and efficient, and make a puttering sound similar to combustion engines. However these cars do not combust anything except the idea that the there is only one viable choice in transportation

I rather have a nice hydrogen engine simple and known proces. Now you have to deal why pnumatic Presur and leaks of air and stuff like that. also the comprest air cools stuff down so it will be under lots of stres since lubrication si realy difficult.

The air is not a fuel, but just a mechanical means of storage. The air has to be compressed by a compressor (perhaps at home or a filling station) The amount of compressed air that can be safely kept on board is unlikely to give more range than even a battery, let alone a combustion engine. I would like to find some more specifics about it as what is shown here is too vague to validly comment on it.
