(Video) Futuristic Wheelchair

We have seen the future of wheelchairs, and it's "omnidirectional". Video after the jump. Here's a bit more information on this device:
Prototype of a wheelchair we developed. The base moves in any direction while the seat remains facing one direction. The seat can also rotate while the base stays fixed, allowing the person operating the wheelchair complete freedom to access any environment more easily

i don't see my grandma useing this chairs its just to complicated for most elderly they cant even program there TV or use a phone whitch has more buttosn than 0123456789 iam sure that younger people could learn it. but i cant tell for sure since i have Tryed it.

If they would add altitude-lift and slope-angle compensation, this would be perfect. Though I agree with Jasper about the complexity.
