Perendev's Magnetic Motor is "claimed to be driven soley by permanent magnets in a particular configuration that includes proper shielding or directing of the magnetic field." Video demonstration after the jump. What are your thoughts?
The output claimed for the scalable device's present configuration is 20 kW, attached to a generator. Perendev claims that the unit has been tested in independent laboratories and that no diminution of magnet strength is observed over time. No fossil fuel is used in the running of the motor, the motor runs on Magnetic/electric energy produced by the repulsion of the magnetic fields

If you look at the top right corner, about 3/4 into the movie, a magical man appears out of thin air...
2
oh wow, build one of those and you can generate your own power without use of depleting a resource, great stuff!
3
finally some one is thinking simple, everyone knows that same poles repel, so why not use it

annoying music

Is it me or does the movie clip at 3/4? It's a fake, They show the bit with the machine speeding up and start slowing down, clip the movie so that when you start to see around the other side, you don't see the guy with a drill (or some motor) powering it. Perpetual magnetic motors are possible, but they haven't done it here.

I can't believe anyone actually fell for this. My estimate of the human race has just gone down. Perpetual motion, including free energy from magnets is totally and completely impossible. That would result in a net increase in energy. You CANNOT get something for nothing.
7
Utterly impossible and blatantly fake (just look up 'conservation laws' in any physics textbook). The man appearing out of nowhere as the camera pulls out shows that this may be an deliberate spoof, as surely no one is stupid enough to leave that in... Right?!
8
Ever heard of a thing called shortening the video? Maybe it would have taken say... 40 seconds just for the damned thing to just slow down. Use your head before you make retarded accusations.

Definately fake. At the end the camera is moved to reveal the other side. The shaft on the other side longer and has a grove in it. Something must have been put there to propel the engine. Otherwise, the camera man could have filmed the other side while the engine was in motion, instead of when it was coming to a halt.

Interesting, but until theres more I'm not going to decide either way. And in response to JT, during prototyping it is often much easier to cut a shaft longer than it needs to be and slot the entire length for a key (they need one to attach the rotors anyway).

umm I guess I'm mistaken when i see this? Regular electrical motors do the same things but just use electromagnets right? There are permanent magnets on the inside and on the outside an electro magnet. Whether it's an electromagnet or another permanent one (that is adjusted) it should work. If you have two magnets with opposite poles don't they push against each other? This doesn't look like getting energy from nothing its' just that they are using permenent magnets on the outside (thus the reason why they have the outer sheel opened up and then when it gets closer then it starts). they are not making energy out of nothing, they are just converting it, and bascially doing something that's already being done. infact this is old. The only reason whyit's not used is exactly the part about it opening and closing. can anyone explain this?

perpetual magnetic motors are real, I saw once on tv, there was used some liquid magnet. But it was slow. Let's say here is different, but anyway, this mashine looks too powerfull.

Er...Energy out of nothing? Physicists could be proven wrong??...Unless magnetic potential energy is being used up? So the magnets die eventually?? I had rougly the same idea in Grade 6 N attract | repel | S---------N repel | attract | S wouldn't work because the forces were balanced...but if the magnetic field on any side could be weakened...

i beleive kayne001 is correct. I beleive this has to do with MAGNETIC FLUX for all you technical people (i guess this is the right site).

It's always amazing to me how quickly somebody can say something is not possible when they have no first-hand knowedge. A little research goes a long way: "For centuries, inventors have been claiming to come up with magnetic motor designs that use nothing more than the power of permanent magnets for the motive force; and for the same amount of time, mainstream science has responded that this is impossible. "It has been proven mathematically that no combination of permanent magnets in any arrangement will generate power." History tells us that what has been proven in many people's back yards and garages does not always coincide with mathematics of the day. Refusing to be daunted by what he considers to be petty dogmas of academic science, inventor Michael J. Brady of Johannesburg not only claims to have produced such a device, but reports that his company, Perendev Power Developments Pty (Ltd) is now in process of manufacturing it on a large scale for markets in Europe, Russia, and Australia." Quasi_Mojo: It’s always amazing to me how quickly somebody can say something IS possible when they have no first-hand knowedge. Go get a physics book. You're missing the point, LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of people claim to make these machines work. NO ONE has ever proved it.

There are only three possible outcomes. 1) It is real, and will be the biggest breakthrough in physics since atomic fission. 2) It is fake, we will never hear about it again, and will disappear into the void of tinfoil hat govt. conspiracy stories. 3) It is real, and will be hidden by a govt. conspiracy against free energy.

Although I think this video/product is fake, I would shy away from saying that such a thing is "impossible," as many scientists are prone to do. The scientific community as a whole is extraordinarily arrogant these days, and seems to believe that if they don't understand something it cannot be true. At one time it was "impossible" that the earth was not the center of the universe. Or it was "impossible" to sail around the world because "many people had claimed it was possible and no one had ever proved it." These are responses from ignorance, not knowledge. In a review of scientific history we find that practical inventions (such as a magnetic motor) often come long *before* the scientific explanation for their existence. Many people said that Marconi was insane when he was working on the radio because naturally it was "impossible" to transmit signals without wires. What a preposterous idea. The short of it is... while I agree that this particular video and product is likely a fake, we would have to be either great fools or extremely arrogant to assume that we know the mysteries of the universe so well that we can conclusively say such a thing is impossible.

of course could be real but not perfect one but its not too far there will be a perfect one the world has to await it

Theres a 3 problems with society today Number 1: People are skeptical about things, no... not just on one subject, but EVERY subject. Number 2: People never enjoy the fact that its "possible or not possible". One example is the Criss Angel skeptics. Enjoy the show for once! stop proving that hes fake! Number 3: People become annoying and obnoxious when they try to prove things wrong. They continue to post and post on forums, after 14 hours of flaming, they dont know what they are flaming about!

Seems to me like they've made a perpetual motion device...........which are impossible to build from what I've learn. Energy needs to be put in to make it spin, I'm guessing that energy comes from the force used to clamp the outer magnets around the inner magnets. Whos knows.

Fake. I believe everything is possible at some point, I won't debate something we all could know more about. However, anyone actually wanting to prove they made it, would have included a full view of the device while in motion. The cut clip was not for slow down, time edited, it was so the accomplice could get out of view. If you watch, you can distinctly see a shadow move behind the wheel right before the cut, and then the light is brighter on the ground. Then someone walks in, to make it seem like they weren't there. If it is such a big discovery, why weren't they there for the filming that would make them all famous. Also, they would introduce themselves and explain the device to be sure to get proper credit. They knew they were making a fake video, so don't want to be seen. Good try, would have been nice to know someone suceeded.

Typical scam film: Close tight shot while device is running. You can't see the other side. When the device has stopped and you go around to the other side, there is a shaft (with scratch marks) sticking out far enough that it could have been powered during the run-up. Put it up off the floor on a plexiglass box in the middle of the room (or better, outside) and rotate the camera around it while running!!!

Tehrasha: I think you're wrong on #1 there. In the event that it's real this will be bigger than atomic fission. Think about it, would you rather have free energy, or energy produced through the production of radioactive waste that needs to be buried deep under some desert for 10000 years before it's safe? And even more nice is the fact that this already pumps out mechanical energy to be hooked up in to a generator, whereas nuclear and coal plants have to boil water to spin turbines to run the generators. That said, it's probably fake. Just too easy to put something on youtube and make a big deal out of it. If I hear about it from a source that I've heard of before and know is credible, then maybe, but internet hype is just far too common to take this at face value.
